Since 1929, The Seeing Eye, Inc. located in Morristown, New Jersey, has matched more than 17,000 specially bred and trained Seeing Eye dogs with blind men and women from across the United States and Canada.

The loggerhead turtle is Florida’s most common sea turtle.  Englewood beaches were designated Critical Habitat for the threatened loggerhead sea turtles in July 2014.

The Florida manatee is a subspecies of the West Indian manatee.  These are large, aquatic mammals – once mistaken for mermaids by Christopher Columbus!  Once near extinction, Florida now has nearly 7,000 of these gentle giants.

These amazing reptiles have roamed America’s most southern states for thousands of years.  They live in scrubby forest areas with sandy soil where trees are not too dense.  One can often be spotted in Lemon Bay Park, usually sitting by its burrow.

Tree frogs have been referred to as the world’s most charismatic amphibian (Fields).  Approximately 6,000 species of frogs live in the world.  Thirty species of frogs live in Florida.  Approximately 800 species of tree frogs live in the world.
